019 Charlie Ruce MFT -- 3 Critical Aspects of Healthy Friendships
Sunday Sep 23, 2018
Sunday Sep 23, 2018
Show Notes // 3 Critical Aspects of Healthy Friendships:
1) A commitment to a rhythm of connection: get-togethers, coffees, golf, meals, etc
2) Honesty as a foundation for intimacy - no honesty = no intimacy, and for men, shared vulnerability and weakness is especially hard so being honest in these areas is important. This also includes honesty about what’s hard in the relationships. So, honesty about the internal life, honesty about weakness, honesty about issues happening in the relationship.
3) Attunement/support/listening well - we have to learn how to show up AND how to receive the other person's inner life and struggles in a way that’s helpful!
About Charlie Ruce
As a therapist, I walk with individual men, women, and couples through these seasons of life that require guidance, clarity, healing, and a process to move from feeling stuck to feeling free and more alive and whole. If you have had therapy in the past but feel like you need to take another step, or you have been journeying inward on your own for a while now but know its time to seek the help of someone else, I would be happy to work with you to move through this season and into the next one. I also have extensive experience working with those in recovery from sexual addiction. If you have been in recovery for a while but need to take another step of healing and growth, I would be happy to journey with you."
Charlie specializes in:
- Those with previous therapy experience looking to take the next step
- Couple's struggling to connect deeply
- Trauma/Feeling like life should be "more" than it is
- Recovery from sexual addiction
