WHAT IF ALL TEACHERS WERE EMPOWERED & EQUIPPED TO MAKE A MEANINGFUL IMPACT FOR EVERY STUDENT?
Teachers are responsible for SO much. They’re overworked and underpaid. Whether a 2nd-grade teacher with a full room of littles, or a high school biology teacher with five sections- it can be an overwhelming load. But they also have tremendous opportunity to shape the lives of so many students.
No matter the reason why a teacher went into the business, we believe every teacher has an opportunity and a responsibility to make a personal impact on every student. Sure, no one can reach them all, and there will be some students who are easy to connect with and others who, well…
But regardless, we don’t think it has to be too complicated. Caring for kids in relevant, meaningful ways can and should happen every day, in every class, by every teacher.

There's no question- students are suffering from anxiety at an alarming and unprecedented level. What do we do, as adults who care for them? How can we respond? And, in what ways are we the ones contributing to their anxiety?
This episode is an important one. We believe every student deserves the opportunity to construct a meaningful life for themselves, but we know that they will be severely undercut if they can't thrive throughout their teenage years and get lost in the fog of anxiety. We invited Matt Bishop, LMFT, on the podcast this week to share his thoughts and expert point of view.

213 Clearly Seeing Your School Culture
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Your school culture has multiple dimensions, is constantly evolving, and is complex. You can’t possibly see everything at once, or by yourself. This is the start of a process to understand your current reality, and it requires humility, a willingness to see and understand, and patience. The best leaders who shape cultures to thrive are ones who look, listen, seek to understand, and invite other people to share- often and often and often.
FLOURISHING SCHOOL CULTURES ARE CREATED AND CULTIVATED BY UNCOMMON LEADERS LEADING UNCOMMON TEAMS, DEDICATED TO AND CONSISTENTLY FOCUSED ON FUNDAMENTAL VALUES AND VISION.
The first step towards any culture change or alignment is going through a process to clearly see your current school culture. We designed a tool you can use with your team, download it here.

210 Shannon Alberts & Corrie Myers -- The Genius in Every Student
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Wednesday Nov 13, 2019
Inside of every student is the potential and desire to construct a meaningful life. But so many face significant challenges in discovering that meaningful life and most schools don't have deliberate plans to guide students to figure that out.
What can a school do to come alongside students in that very pursuit, to redesign the student experience and provide the resources and guidance for students to flourish?
Mrs. Alberts and Mrs. Myers, co-chairs of the English Department at Sage Creek High School helped launch the Genius Project several years ago, and are redesigning what students experience before they graduate.

209 Leigh Cambra -- Guiding Students to Purpose Through Service
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
Middle and High School is a time ripe with self-expression and self-discovery. Students are searching for identity, purpose, and connection. Those dynamics don't just happen, students need to be guided through experiences, reflection, and conversations to find clarity. Community service is a tremendous opportunity to provide all three, and our guest this week, Leigh Cambra, health teachers, Link Crew teacher and former ASB Director helped students launch This Club Saves Lives, and she's seeing students discovering who they are and what they're made for.
Bio
High school health education teacher Leigh Cambra, Carmel Teachers Association, helps teens make the world a better place. She created the This Club Saves Lives club with her students several years ago; it has grown to 70+ members who together with students in her classes carry out significant community and global service projects. She has led student efforts to bring awareness and actions to end the water crisis and collect feminine hygiene products for homeless women. She spearheaded initiatives to collect socks for the homeless; fill backpacks with school supplies and distribute them to elementary school students; repair and decorate a local safe house for women who have been trafficked; and much more.
